Problem #1:
"Suck it up and Drive On" Mentality. Military and First Responder culture has taught us to ignore physical pain and stress. This mentality can be a temporary necessity for critical missions, but it cannot be a lifestyle.
Problem #2
The lifestyle associated with our careers has left us physically and mentally depleted, in physical and emotional pain and feeling like there's no way out of this cycle. We accept that this the reality life has presented with no options for change.
Problem #3
We are encouraged to "To get help" but we aren't told what that means, and how it will affect our careers. The prevailing prejudice surrounding mental health instills within us a sense of self-blame, as if we ourselves are the root cause of the issue.

Our careers have become lifestyles that are inherently linked to burnout and chronic stress. But it doesn't have to be this way. The truth is that these problems can be fixed, we just aren't taught how.
We were never taught the science behind how physical and mental stress manifests in the body and mind.

My Immersive Adventure (IA) method is very simple. IA is specifically designed for Military Veterans and First Responders and centered around finding solutions that are specific to our community. There are three main phases to the IA way of winning the war on stress and energizing your life while immersed in an amazing outdoor adventure.

In this phase, you will delve into the intricacies of stress, understanding your unique response patterns, and uncovering effective strategies to minimize its impact on your mental and physical well-being.

During this phase, you will acquire the necessary tools and techniques to intervene in your stress response cycle effectively.
#3 MOMENTUM
By the end of our journey together, you will have gained a profound understanding of yourself and others, enabling you to navigate relationships and situations with greater clarity and empathy.

Phase 1 - DISCOVER
The first phase in the IA method of personal growth is DISCOVERY. This involves self-reflection and gaining a deeper understanding of yourself, your strengths, weaknesses, values, and aspirations. You take the time to explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences to identify patterns and areas for improvement. This could include journaling, meditation, or seeking feedback from trusted individuals in your life. Through this process, you gain clarity about who you are and what you want to achieve.
Phase 2 - ACTION
Once you have discovered areas for personal growth, the next phase is to take ACTION. This involves setting specific goals and creating a plan to achieve them. We'll break down your goals into smaller, manageable tasks and create a timeline to hold yourself accountable. You'll be guided toward opportunities for learning and development. The final phase in the IA method of personal growth is building MOMENTUM. Once you've started taking action, you strive to maintain a positive and proactive warrior mindset. You celebrate small wins along the way and use them as fuel to keep moving forward. You surround yourself with supportive and like-minded individuals who inspire and motivate you. You also regularly evaluate your progress and make adjustments to your plan if necessary. By maintaining momentum, you're able to sustain your personal growth journey and continue to evolve and improve over time.

During my journey to Everest Base Camp in 2018, amidst a vast Himalayan alpine field at an elevation over 15,500 feet, an overwhelming sense of exhilaration washed over me. Years of relentless self-improvement and the fulfillment of my dream to see Mount Everest had finally converged, leaving me feeling truly extraordinary. It was in that transformative moment that a profound realization struck me - I wanted my fellow Military Veterans and First Responders to taste this same euphoria.
From that day onward, a new purpose was engraved within me, shaping the trajectory of my life. I resolved to embark on a new mission: to extend an invitation to other unsung heroes, offering them the chance to partake in the ultimate test of resilience and embark on a life-altering expedition through the majestic Nepal Himalayas.

I'm Sarah!
As a US Army Combat Veteran with over 21 years of service, I enlisted after 9/11 and became an Army Aviation Officer. I flew UH-60 Blackhawk Helicopters, led platoons and companies, and held senior positions at the National Guard Bureau and Defense Contract Management Agency.
I also have over seven years of law enforcement experience, training officers in firearms, tactics, fitness, and first responder medical skills. As a Peer Support Specialist, I helped fellow officers cope with the aftermath of critical incidents.
Through my own struggles with physical pain, stress, and anxiety, I discovered the power of activities like trekking, yoga, and meditation. This led me to create Blue Side Yoga, an organization that takes Military Veterans and First Responders on life-changing adventures.
